Female Hormone Imbalance Blood Test

Overview

The Female Hormone Imbalance Blood Test checks your 4 key female hormones – oestrogen, progesterone, FSH, and LH, along with other important biomarkers that can cause a hormone imbalance, such as thyroid markers. Checking for a hormone imbalance can help you find the cause of symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, acne, irregular periods, and fertility issues. It can also help you check and monitor your hormone levels when using hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

Instructions:

When do I take the test?

  • If you’re having a regular period, collect your sample on day 3 of your menstrual cycle (day 1 being the first day of your period), otherwise take the test at any time.
  • IMPORTANT: If you’re using a hormone gel or cream, we recommend the sample is collected via a phlebotomy draw due to the risk of contamination.

Symptoms of a Female Hormone Imbalance:

Testing your hormones can be helpful at various stages of life, such as when trying to conceive, suspecting perimenopause, or experiencing symptoms related to a hormone imbalance. Our at-home hormone imbalance blood test allows you to test and track your hormones whenever you need without waiting to see your doctor.

Normal Female Hormone Levels:

“Normal” levels depend on factors like age. Women going through perimenopause or menopause will have different levels compared to other women. Hormones also fluctuate across the menstrual cycle, so normal ranges change depending on the phase. The best way to find out if your levels are in the healthy range is to check them with our female hormone imbalance blood test.

Can This Test Detect Perimenopause?

This test checks for hormone imbalances and can screen for perimenopause. However, our Perimenopause Blood Test is more useful for detecting perimenopause, as it uses blood samples from day 14 and day 21 of your menstrual cycle, paired with AI to accurately map your hormone fluctuations.

Full Female Hormone Panel:

A full female hormone panel includes the 4 key hormones – oestrogen, progesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinising hormone (LH) – as well as testosterone and thyroid hormones like TSH. Our female hormone test checks all of these and more, helping detect conditions related to a hormone imbalance, such as PCOS, menopause, underactive and overactive thyroid, and fertility problems.

Symptoms of a Hormone Imbalance:

A hormone imbalance in women can present itself in many ways, both physical and mental. Increased oestrogen levels can cause weight gain, heavier or lighter periods, fatigue, and PMS. Low progesterone levels can cause irregular periods, headaches, fertility problems, and hot flashes. High testosterone in women can cause unwanted hair growth, acne, and irregular periods, while low testosterone can cause irregular periods, low sex drive, loss of muscle mass, and lack of energy. Checking your hormone levels via a blood test is the best way to find the answers you need.
