Wanderlust DNA Test
Discover if you carry the “wanderlust gene” with our Wanderlust DNA Test, designed to reveal if you have seven or more repeats of “DRD4-7R” in your genetic makeup.
What is the Wanderlust DNA Test?
The Wanderlust DNA Test identifies the presence of the “wanderlust gene” (DRD4-7R) in your genetic makeup. This gene variant produces a D4 receptor that binds less dopamine than receptors with fewer repeats. As a result, dopamine levels in the brain are lowered, reducing the “good feeling” response. This often leads to increased novelty-seeking behaviors such as travel, exploration, experimenting with new activities, and sometimes even risk-taking behaviors.
How Wanderlust DNA Tests Work:
Our Wanderlust DNA test is simple and non-invasive, requiring only a quick cheek swab. Here’s how it works:
Cheek Swab: Collect DNA cells from your saliva using the provided swab.
DNA Analysis: Your sample is analyzed for Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs).
Gene Examination: The test focuses on the dopamine D4 receptor gene (DRD4). Variations in this gene, which can repeat from two to eleven times, are associated with adventurous and exploratory behaviors.
What We Test:
DRD4 Gene Variant: The test looks for the presence of the DRD4-7R variant, which is linked to increased novelty-seeking and adventurous behaviors.
There is evidence suggesting that examining SNPs can reveal the impact of DNA on various mental and behavioral traits, including neuroticism, personality, and intelligence. People with specific variations of the DRD4 gene are generally more intrepid and curious.
